We had a client by the name of Chris Stubbs contacted us from Japan.  He was building a luxury home in the city of Tanamatsu Tagawa.  Next to his home, he was also building dual, side-by-side tournament level tennis court.  He was looking for a tennis court lighting system that would operate at tournament level quality, and he needed extensive consultative assistance wiring each court independently.

Mr. Stubbs also wanted to make certain that all of the components of his system were shipped overseas without complication.  After finding us online, he was confident that RLLD Commercial Lighting could accommodate his requirements without error or incidence.

Because Mr. Stubbs is an avid tennis player, he require the highest levels of light possible.  In order to match the architecture of his custom home, the light fixtures also had to have a nice look to them as well.  Surrounding homes needed to be shielded from the bright light as well, so it was also necessary to eliminate any possibility of light pollution.

It was evident from the beginning that we would need to completely customize this tennis court lighting system.  To begin with, the courts were smaller than usual, and had unique dimensions proportional to the size of the property and the architecture of the home.  Mr. Stubbs’s architect sent us plans for the home and the tennis courts so that we would know the appropriate dimensions to work with and the unique aesthetic demands of the project.

We then input all of this data into our advanced photometric lighting software.  Because the tennis court lighting system was to be highly custom in nature, we provided Mr. Stubbs and his team with multiple three dimensional renderings of proposed lighting layouts.  After studying our proposals, the team decided the best proposed system was the one that placed the highest light levels at the net.

This tennis court lighting system consisted of a total of 9 poles positioned at key locations along the boundary lines of both courts.  On each pole, high-end Aero full cutoff fixtures were positioned at differing heights to make certain that precise levels of light were evenly placed in the right levels across the court, and that the net area was more brightly illuminated per the request of the client.

Mr. Stubbs had previously arranged transport of his equipment to Japan through a privately contracted exporter located in Canada.  In order to get him his equipment, we sent the poles, fixtures, and mounting brackets via Washington State to the Canadian exporter, who then handled delivery of the product from there.  No equipment was lost or damaged during shipping.

Another interesting side note to the project is the manner in which the entire transaction was negotiated.  All inquiries, photometric layouts, consultative services, purchases, and shipping were handled completely through email.  At no time was it necessary for either Mr. Stubbs or our design team to place an overseas call.

The entire tennis court lighting system was shipped and delivered without incident, and it was installed and configured according to plan.  To date it has performed according to client expectation thanks to a design process characterized by online community management and efficient process flow.
